This week's objectives - 19th of November


Hi! This week is week 1 of CAL 2. For this week, as an IPC homework children need to bring in to school an empty shoe box and 5 tooth-picks; they have all week to bring these in. As a suggestion, when they bring home their Spelling notebook to do their homework, children should copy the words for each week in a separate notebook that way they will be able to study every day.
Objectives for this week:

ENGLISH:
·  Spelling: long vowel sounds "ai" and "ay" (children should copy words every week in a different notebook at home to study during the week)
·  To be able to use commas in a list
·  To be able to brainstorm words for a Shape Poem
·  To make lines for a Shape Poem
·  To improve a piece of writing

MATHS:
·  Mental Maths: counting in 10's and 100's
·  Estimate up to about 100 objects
·  Round any two-digit numbers to the nearest 10
·  Explain how the digits in a number change when counting in 10's or 100's
·  Add or subtract pairs of two-digit numbers

SCIENCE:
·  To understand what fair testing is
·  To know what a variable is
·  To prepare an effective investigation

IPC:
·  Homework for this week: 1 empty shoe box and 5 tooth-picks
·  To know what a dinosaur is
·  To know animals alive today that are related to dinosaurs
·  To know how to collect and present data using tables and graphs
