Welcome To Grade 4

Dear Parents and Children,

I would like to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me. My name is Ian Truscott, and I am the Grade 4 Leader, as well as Key Stage 2 Curriculum Coordinator.

We hope that you all had wonderful holidays in different parts of El Salvador, and the rest of the World. We look forward to receiving your children tomorrow and teaching them many new things this year. we hope they LEARN a lot also.

We aim to make lessons fun and dynamic, and ensure that your children's learning is maximised throughout the year.

Each week there will be:
7 English lessons
6 Maths lessons
6 Spanish lessons (including 2 IPC lessons in Spanish)
4 IPC lessons
2 Science lessons (also part of IPC)
1 Lifeskills lesson

These lessons will be taught by the class teachers.

Besides these, there will be various Specialist lessons:
2 PE lessons
1 Swimming lesson
1 ICT lesson
1 Art lesson
1 Music lesson

In English we will start the Unit Significant Authors i.e. Michael Morpurgo
In IPC we will start the Unit called 'Go With the Flow' about Rivers.
In Science, we will start the unit 'Water For Everyone'
In Maths we  will start with Place Value.

Please ensure that you regularly follow this blog to find out about what your children have been studying and learning in school. Let us all work together in order to help your children achieve their full potential in school.

I will leave you with a story that I am particularly fond of:

"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?" With a timid voice and idolizing eyes, the little boy greeted his father as he returned from work.
Greatly surprised, but giving his boy a glaring look, the father said: "Look, sonny, not even your mother knows that. Don't bother me now, I'm tired."
"But, Daddy, just tell me please! How much do you make an hour?" the boy insisted.
The father, finally giving up, replied: "Twenty pesos per hour."
"Okay, Daddy. Could you lend me ten pesos?" the boy asked. Showing his restlessness and positively disturbed, the father yelled: "So that was the reason you asked how much I earn, right? Go to sleep and don't bother me anymore!"
It was already dark and the father was meditating on what he said and was feeling guilty. Maybe, he thought, his son wanted to buy something.
Finally, trying to ease his mind, the father went to his son's room. "Are you asleep, son?" asked the father.
"No, Daddy. Why?" replied the boy, partially asleep.
"Here's the money you asked for earlier," the father said.
"Thanks, Daddy!" rejoiced the son, while putting his hand under his pillow and removing some money. "Now I have enough! Now I have twenty pesos!" the boy said to his father, who was gazing at his son, confused at what his son had just said. "Daddy, could you sell me one hour of your time?" 

Tomorrow, the children need to come to school in their PE kits.
