There has been some concerns about the grade 5 camp. This morning, Alejandra Martinez and I visited Portezuelo Mountain to investigate the security and mosquito risk.
The site has been recently fumigated and due to the the cold weather and wind, it currently does not have mosquitoes. We are still recommending that all children take insect repellent to be on the safe side.
Portezuelo Mountain is 10-15 minutes outside of Juayua and there has been no issues with security in the area. Members of staff regularly travel back to Juayua late at night safely. There are two guards during the day with an extra guard in the evening.
The children's safety and well being is our number one priority.

Han surgido inquietudes sobre el campamento de quinto grado. Esta mañana Alejandra Martínez y yo visitamos Portezuelo para investigar la seguridad y el riesgo de picadas de zancudos.
El sitio ha sido fumigado recientemente y debido al clima helado y el viento, actualmente no hay zancudos. Todavía recomendamos que todos los niños lleven repelente contra insectos para estar protegidos.
Portezuelo se localiza de 10- 15 minutos afuera de Juayua y no han surgido percances de seguridad en esta área. Los miembros del staff de Portezuelo viajan de vuelta a Juayua por la noche de manera segura. Hay dos guardias durante el día y un guardia extra por la noche.
